WHAT ARE HOMONYMS?

Homonyms are words that have the same spelling and pronunciation but different meanings. There are two types of homonyms:

  1. Homographs: These are words that are spelled the same way but have different meanings. For example, “bow” can refer to a knot or a weapon.
  2. Homophones: These are words that sound the same but have different meanings. For example, “there,” “their,” and “they’re” are homophones because they all sound the same but have different spellings and meanings.
